Spirit Community,

Hopefully, the April showers are behind us, and now we look for April to bloom around us!  Let us take a moment to express gratitude for the resilience and dedication of each member of our school community. We have an unwavering commitment to learning. Let this month serve as a reminder of the beauty of new beginnings and growth. May we continue to embrace the spirit of renewal and nurture a culture of kindness, curiosity, and collaboration within our school. Wishing you all a joyful and fulfilling rest of April.

Happening THIS week:

Dwayne Morgan: Introduction to Race Event

On Tuesday, April 16th, our juniors and intermediates will have an opportunity listen to Spoken Word Artist Dwayne Morgan and gain insights into racial challenges’ historical and societal roots, strategies to confront harmful language, and ways to cultivate a respectful, inclusive atmosphere. It highlights the importance of dialogue, reflection, and action. It aims to equip students with the means to facilitate impactful discussions, drive positive change, and create a school culture that embraces diversity, understanding, and equity. Our Grades 4&5 students will join the hybrid event virtually and our Grade 6-8 students will attend in person.

This excursion is a great opportunity to connect to our priority of student wellbeing & our OCSGE theme this month of responsible citizenship.

  • Accepting accountability for words & actions
  • Respect & affirm the diversity and interdependence of peoples & cultures
  • Respect & understand the history & heritage and pluralism of today’s contemporary society
  • Contribute to the common good

Bus Safety Presentations

On Friday, April 19th, our kindergarten to grade 8 students will participate in the bus safety review. Our transportation consortium, school board, and the Ministry of Education bring us these exciting, dynamic programs, which focus on bus behaviour and safety for all.
