Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

This morning during our last Advent Celebration our school community was reminded that the time of waiting for Christ’s birth is almost over. We closed with this prayer:

Lord, it is so good to know that you walk with us every minute. There are so many choices we have to make, so many adventures ahead of each of us. Help us to listen well. Take good care of the ones we love so much, as they walk with You on their own journeys. Thank You for this wonderful season, for the gift of sharing it with special people, and for letting us know You better.

The staff of St. Nicholas CES would like to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

School Council Meeting

Our next school council meeting is on January 8th at 6:30 pm in the Learning Commons.

Traffic Flow at St. Nicholas CES

We received the notice below this week from the City of Waterloo Bylaw Office:

We have been informed by some school staff members that they are of the understanding that parents are permitted to park and wait for their children in a No Parking Zone on City Highways. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

As a proactive measure and for clarity, please advise parents that are picking up their children, that they are not permitted to park and wait in a No Parking Zone unless they are actively loading or unloading passengers or materials. Please see below information from our Traffic By-Law:

 Traffic By-Law # 08-077 Section 4 (a) States:

 No Parking

(a) When signs establishing a “no parking” zone are on display, no person shall park a vehicle within such zone except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with a traffic control signal, sign, device, or the directions of a police officer.

Please remember to obey the signage posted on our neighbouring streets and do not park in designated No Parking areas.
