BBQ Update

St. Nicholas Families:

Come and join in the fun at the St. Nicholas Year End BBQ on Wednesday June 6th from 5 – 7:30pm (rain or shine).

This year The Crazy Canuck will be providing the food. The BBQ fare will include hamburgers and hotdogs. If you did not order your food combo in advance, it is not too late – you can purchase a ticket at the BBQ for the Dinner Combo for $8.00.

Other food items available at the BBQ for cash from the Crazy Caboose food truck (no pre-order necessary) include:

Dinner Combo (Hamburger or Hotdog, chips or apple, and water) – $8.00

Pulled pork and Fries – $10.00 ($8 without fries)

Brisket and fries – $12.00 ($10 without fries)

Poutine – $8.00

Fries – $5

Water – $2.00


You can also buy activities tickets at the BBQ.

Activities that require a ticket include: face painting, photo booth, cake walk, basket raffle, and bake sale.

Ticket prices are as follows:   $1.00 per ticket, $5 for 6, $10 for 12, and $20 for 25 tickets

Other activities at the BBQ will include a Magic Show at 6pm in the Learning Commons, Carnival Games, music and dancing.

All proceeds of the BBQ go to St. Nicholas School Council that supports school activities such as assisting to subsidize class trips, school science presentations, contributing to the purchase of Google Chromebooks, sports equipment and more.

Transportation Update

Transportation details for the 2018-2019 school year will be available on Monday August 20, 2018.

Parents can login and view their child’s transportation details by going to and following these easy steps:

  • Click on “Student Login”
  • Enter your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN)
  • The OEN can be found on your child’s report card
  • Numbers only, no space, no dash
  • Enter your child’s birth date
  • dd/mm/yyyy
  • Enter your child’s street number
  • house number only
  • Select the school your child is attending from the drop down menu

Please note that any address changes must be done at your child’s school. If you are moving in the summer or changing caregiver arrangements for the fall, you should communicate the change of address to your child’s school before the end of the 2017-2018 school year.

St. Michael’s Catholic Parish is thrilled to offer Vacation Bible School for its second year running. This year we will journey to: “A Wilderness Adventure Through the Sacraments”.

Our program will run from Monday, July 30th to Friday, August 3rd, 2018 from 9am-Noon in the Parish Centre with a Celebration BBQ from noon until 1:30 pm the final day. The program is for children who will be in JK – Grade 5 this upcoming school year.

Registration is now available online at If you do not have internet access, please see Joanne in the parish office to fill out a paper form. Online registration is preferred. The cost is $30.00/child. For families with more than 1 child, the cost is $20.00 for each additional child. Payment can be made at the parish office or through the collection by cash or cheque (payable to St. Michael’s Church). Please include the name of the child(ren) the payment is for.

Older than grade 5? If you would like to be part of this program, you are more than welcome to volunteer. We would especially like adult volunteers. A volunteer registration form is also available online (and in the parish office if needed). Deadline for registration of the program is Friday, June 22, 2018.

A Message From St. Michael’s Parish Pastoral Associate for Schools and Youth Ministry, Andrea Laughlin:

Is your child entering grade 2 in the 2018-2019 school year? Students in grade 2 will be preparing for their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion with preparation expected to begin in the Fall 2018 to the Spring 2019. Your child must be Baptized to receive these Sacraments.

Is your child entering grade 7 in the 2018-2019 school year? Please be advised that Confirmation Preparation will begin promptly in September in anticipation of a Fall/Winter 2018 Confirmation date. Locate your child’s Baptismal Certificate this summer to submit to the Parish in September. Also note, your child is required to have received both Baptism and First Communion to be eligible for receiving Confirmation. Provincial Election – June 7th

As you June 7th is the provincial election. As in the past, St. Nicholas CES will be used as a polling station. Please be aware of extra vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the school, especially during arrival and dismissal times.
